JOB DUTIES Reporting into the Chief Metallurgist, the Metallurgy Master is responsible to define, implement, develop, monitor & report on the process improvement opportunities & projects to maximize concentrator mill throughput and recovery of metals (Cu, Mo, Au and Ag), and cost savings, within both sulphide and clay plant concentrators. The key objectives of this position are to: 1. Promote a culture of awareness and commitment to safe working practices amongst all employees and contractors, which will enable a healthy and hazard free working environment. 2. Directly participate in the daily to monthly work activities of the both Sulphide & clay plants, serving as technical support to operations personnel to enhance the performance. 3. Identify opportunities for improvement, and develop ideas generated by Metallurgical, Operational and Maintenance teams to allow for appropriate project scoping and prioritization. 4. Achieve outputs set by Chief Metallurgist, ensure direct reports have a clear understanding of their roles and responsibilities and provide support as required to develop & mentor other Metallurgists. 5. Participate in the mine to mill group in which objective is to develop short-term & long term production forecasting & integrate with ore blend strategy to achieve better metallurgical performance of plant by mill throughput and metal recovery. 6. Ability to understand, Advanced Process Control theory, along with DCS logic to assist in troubleshooting and optimization of current expert systems in the circuit operations. 7. Provide leadership with the Metallurgical team to ensure skill development, they work effectively and efficiently to achieve company goals. 8. Provide technical advice to Maintenance & Operation teams on improvement projects, along with developing & maintaining databases, reports, and monthly statistics. 9. Develop & implement process KPI`s, expert system control limits and plant troubleshooting guidelines. 10. Involve and implement tactical plans and strategy to achieve the production enhancement and cost reduction. 11. Maintain standard of plant operation & improve plant efficiency by involvement in mill liners, screens, reagents selections and to bring value with other advancements to the process. 12. Streamline & improve metal accounting, daily, weekly & monthly reporting systems by improving the database management, advance controls, production loss tracking and use other advanced software and technologies. 13. Actively engage in Capex project implementation, with clear project progress until project handover to operations 14. To provide technical support to the processing operation to ensure plant performance is optimized and processing development opportunities are identified and pursued. 15. To interact with external consultants as directed by management to provide and request information as required to complete various test work programs and feasibility studies. 16. Select, train & develop candidates to acquire advanced skills, plant troubleshooting, reporting, and reviewing results, test work plans and project implementation as part of succession planning. 17. Direct and coordinate activities in the field of metallurgical automation and process control, ensuring the associated circuits are performing at optimum. 18. Manage & improve process efficiencies which includes the tailings and concentrate thickeners operation, water, and power management systems. 19. Undertake laboratory and plant test work and surveys to identify, ratify and execute improvement opportunities to assist delivery of safety, volume, and cost targets. 20. Implement project management methodologies for the planning and control of these projects or pilot plant campaigns. 21. Develop & conduct lab test work programs, data analysis and plant simulations to prepare technical proposals and the implementation of the process improvements. 22. Prepare interim and final technical reports, as required. 23. Work with other departments to identify and develop broader site improvement opportunities. 24. Performs other assigned tasks and other instructions of the head, within the framework of his position, qualifications and professional competence of the employee (labor function).
