Backend Engineer

We're looking for a pragmatic and forward-thinking Backend engineer.

Key Responsibilities:

• Architect, Design & Build: Lead the design and development of critical backend services and APIs using NodeJS, focusing on scalability, and high availability.
• Technical Ownership & Excellence: Take full ownership of key backend components from design through deployment and maintenance. Champion rigorous code quality, comprehensive automated testing (we value TDD/BDD), and robust CI/CD practices.
• Solve Deep Technical Puzzles: Dive into and solve complex challenges related to optimizing our PostgreSQL query performance under heavy load and enhancing the security and resilience of our microservices architecture.
• Strategic Technical Contribution: Actively contribute to architectural blueprints, technology selection (our current stack includes NodeJS/TypeScript, PostgreSQL, Redis, Docker, Kubernetes on AWS), and our long-term backend roadmap.
• Mentorship & Collaboration: Mentor mid-level and junior engineers through thoughtful code reviews, pair programming sessions, and design discussions. Foster a culture of shared knowledge and continuous improvement within a collaborative, agile environment.
• A Glimpse into Your Week: You might spend your time designing a new service, deep-diving into performance optimization, collaborating with frontend on API contracts, mentoring a teammate on a complex feature, and contributing to our bi-weekly architecture review sessions.
  
  What You'll Bring (And Grow With Us):
• Extensive Senior-Level Experience: Typically 5+ years in backend development.
• Architectural Acumen: Proven ability to design scalable, maintainable, and secure distributed systems and microservices.
• Database Mastery: Deep expertise with PostgreSQL (or similar relational DBs) including complex queries, schema design, and performance tuning. Experience with NoSQL (e.g., Redis, Elasticsearch) for caching and specific use cases.
• Cloud & DevOps Proficiency: Hands-on experience with AWS (preferred), GCP, or Azure and strong familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Testing Evangelist: A strong belief in and practice of comprehensive testing
• Problem-Solver & Communicator: Exceptional analytical skills, the ability to articulate complex technical ideas clearly, and a proactive, collaborative approach.
