Contracts and Claims Settlement Specialist

Duties and functions:

• Ensure compliance with the legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan and internal regulations of KATCO, particularly in the area of procurement of goods, works, and services (GWS) by subsoil users.

• Provide legal support to employees on procedural, institutional, and other legal matters related to procurement activities.

• Handle claims management, including preparation of claims and/or lawsuits on behalf of the Company; review incoming claims or lawsuits; provide legal advice or representation during government inspections.

• Participate in the development of internal policies, rules, and procedures related to GWS procurement.

• Conduct legal review of draft contracts (including those part of tender documentation) to ensure compliance with the legislation of the RoK and internal company standards.

• Analyze legal risks and procurement-related issues affecting the Company.

• Review and approve contracts submitted to the Corporate Contracts and Standards Department (CCSD).

• Represent the Company in interactions with government bodies, courts, commercial and non-commercial organizations, individuals, and employees, under a power of attorney. When necessary, provide on-site legal support at mining locations during inspections or audits.

General Requirements:

• Higher education in Law

• Minimum 3 years of legal work experience (experience in subsoil use is an advantage)

• Experience working with foreign companies and nationals

• Strong knowledge of RoK legislation in the areas of procurement (GWS), subsoil use, civil, procedural, labor, and administrative law

• Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and IS Paragraph

• English language proficiency: Upper-Intermediate or higher (required)
