System Engineer (DevOps On-prem)

Andersen, an international IT company, invites an experienced System Engineer (DevOps) to join its team.

The customer is a European leading, globally active, integrated technology company that develops components, systems and services with its high innovative strength and pioneering technologies, it has established leading positions in future-oriented business areas. With about 28,000 employees at 139 locations and production sites worldwide.

The project is to map the transition of applications from monolith to microservices.

Technology stack: On-prem, Kafka, Kubernetes, CI/CD, Terraform, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redis, Ansible, Helm, ELK Stack, Prometheus, Grafana.

Responsibilities:

• Strategizing and planning the infrastructure deployment, management, and monitoring, ensuring the designed system can be effectively deployed, managed, and monitored based on available resources.
• Evaluating current infrastructure and available resources to devise a plan for necessary infrastructure requirements, considering cloud providers, virtualization, container orchestration systems, etc.
• Creating a blueprint for designing CI/CD pipelines that align with the architectural plan, ensuring microservices can be deployed smoothly.
• Drafting strategies to ensure the system's configuration can be managed consistently, taking into account tools like Ansible, Chef, or Puppet and the current environment.
• Recommending tools and practices for monitoring system health, performance, and diagnostics, based on both platform-level and application-level needs.
• Developing strategies for data backup, disaster recovery, and system failover, tailored to the current infrastructure or what can be made available.
• Proposing mechanisms to scale the infrastructure according to potential load and demand, ensuring adaptability.
• Planning and recommending security measures, keeping in mind current setups, like setting up firewalls, managing network rules, and handling certificates.
• Analyzing potential costs associated with the new infrastructure, juxtapose with current expenditures, and suggest optimizations.
• Acting as a bridge between the architectural team and the infrastructure implementation team, ensuring that the strategies are feasible and align with the architectural goals.

Must-haves:

• Experience as a System Engineer (DevOps) for 5+ years.
• Experience with On-prem Setups
• Experience with Kafka.
• CI/CD building experience (Gitlab).
• Experience with Terraform.
• Deep knowledge of Helm.
• Strong knowledge of PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redis.
• Understanding of ELK Stack, Prometheus, Grafana.
• Experience and deep knowledge of Kubernetes.
• Level of English – from Intermediate+ and above.
