Individual learning support assistant (paid by parents)

We are looking for : assistant teachers who will be looking after individual pupils with special educational needs. The ideal candidate should be proficient in English, experienced in working with children and emotionally intelligent.

Department: Learning support

Responsible to: Head of Learning Support

Type of contract: Service agreement for 1 year with mutual prolongation.

Salary: min 240 000KZT (after taxes paid)

Benefits: transportation to/from School, healthy breakfasts & lunches, paid school holidays, specual trainings.

Start date: 15 April 2024

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Assist in the educational and social development of a pupil under the direction and guidance of the specific class teacher and Head of Learning Support.
  2. Understand the needs of pupil with whom working
  3. Establish and maintain relationships with the pupil
  4. Provide individual literacy/numeracy support to allow access to curriculum
  5. Support classroom and individual use of equipment
  6. Support the pupil during learning activities
  7. Understand the most effective way in which to support learning for a given task
  8. Feed back to the Head of Learning Support on progress made
  9. Encourage students to take responsibility for their own learning and promoting development of self-esteem
  10. Prepare resources and materials, adapting them according to the pupil’s needs
  11. Assist in setting out learning materials and set out materials for use appropriate to the planned activities
  12. Observe and report on pupil performance

Administrative Duties:

  1. Update relevant records at agree time intervals
  2. Ensure that contributions are accurate, complete and up to date
  3. Contribute to planning of learning activities
  4. Discuss expected learning outcomes with the Head of Learning Support and agree upon success criteria

Qualifications/Experience/Knowledge

  1. Bachelor/Master degree in education
  2. Fluent level of English
  3. Proven successful experience of working with children in an educational setting
  4. Experience of working with children with special educational needs

Standards and Quality Assurance:

  1. Support the aims and ethos of the school.
  2. Promote positive pupil behaviour in line with School policies.
  3. Be aware of school policies for communicating with parents and carers; policies for care and wellbeing of pupils; school’s policy for confidentiality; policy and procedure for parents’ access to teaching staff and the Head of Learning Support, school’s Special Educational Needs Policy and Procedures, understand the importance of the school’s Health and Safety policy
  4. Refer matters beyond competence and role to the Head of Learning Support
  5. Set personal targets and attend relevant courses/in-service training
  6. Encourage pupils to speak English as much as possible both in the classroom and around the school.
  7. Ensure that information relating to pupils is kept confidential.
  8. Be proactive in matters relating to health and safety.
  9. Be aware of child protection and safety procedures.

Other Professional Requirements:

  1. Set a good example to pupils through presentation, personal and professional conduct, including arriving punctually for lessons and following the school dress code for staff
  2. Undertake relevant training/courses provided by the school
  3. Be familiar with key school policies and procedures.
  4. Attend and participate in meetings as required.
  5. Establish and maintain effective and professional working relationships with colleagues.
  6. Keep abreast of current educational developments and practice.
  7. Undertake other duties as the Headmaster may reasonably direct.
